Why we built Orchard

Regulated investment products in Nigeria have long been sized for institutions, not individuals. Orchard exists to change that.

Most of the good investment products in Nigeria were never designed for the average person. Treasury bills, commercial papers, fixed deposits, and the kind of alternative investments that institutions use to grow their money quietly in the background all exist, and they work, but getting into them usually means a large minimum amount, a relationship with the right institution, or both.

That is the problem we set out to fix with Orchard.

The gap we saw

None of the products themselves were the problem. Treasury bills are still one of the safest short-term instruments available in Nigeria. Fixed deposits still pay a stated rate for a stated term. Real estate and private equity still offer exposure that a savings account cannot. What was missing was a simple, honest way for someone without institutional-size capital to get access to any of it.

The minimums were built for institutions, not for a single person trying to put money to work in fractional amounts. So Orchard aggregates products from licensed, regulated institutions, whether that is an SEC-registered investment manager or a CBN-licensed deposit-taking institution, and makes them available in smaller, fractional sizes.

What Orchard actually does

We are not an asset manager and we do not issue any of these products ourselves. Orchard is a distribution platform. We partner with regulated institutions, handle the technical and compliance work of making their products available in fractional size, and give you one place to see what is available and invest in it directly.

That distinction matters. It means the products on Orchard come from institutions that are already licensed to offer them, not from us. Our job is to make access to those products simpler, not to replace the people who are actually regulated to manage your money.

What this means for you

If you have wanted to put money into a treasury bill, a fixed deposit, or an alternative investment like real estate or private equity, but the minimum amount always felt out of reach, that is exactly the gap Orchard is built to close. You can see what is available, understand the mechanics of each product in plain language, and invest in a size that makes sense for you.

We built Orchard because access to good investment products should not depend on how much capital you start with. It should depend on whether you understand what you are investing in and are ready to do it.
